400 animals rescued from traffic gang in Spain

Animal News : 400 animals rescued from traffic gang in Spain

Police rescued over 400 animals, mainly kittens and pups from expensive breeds, in an operation against a traffic ring in Spain. Thirteen people, including a veterinarian, were arrested in Barcelona.

The ring trafficked dogs and cats bought in Eastern European Union countries. The animals were bred in illegal farms and sold on social networks, police said on Wednesday.

The police worked together with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). They raided houses, veterinary centers and pet shops and confiscated all animals.

The funds the ring leaders had accumulated thanks to the puppy and kitten traffic in Spain and abroad have been frozen.
