An alligator without an upper jaw is living in a crocodile shelter in Florida. She was rescued on September 16 after pictures and videos of the injured female alligator circulated on social media.

Her rescuers said the alligator probably lost her upper jaw in an accident with a boat propeller.

The alligator, who was named Jawlene, will stay at Gatorland, a theme park near Orlando in the United States that rescues alligators. The animal is doing well despite her injury, the park said.
