Seals entangled in fishing nets rescued in South Africa (VIDEO)

Animal News : Seals entangled in fishing nets rescued in South Africa

Three seals, found entangled in discarded fishing nets, were rescued by beachgoers at West Coast National Park in South Africa.

The video of the rescue showed two of the three seals. Visitors to the park discovered the trapped marine mammals and were able to release them. The animals were seen cuddling and comforting each other when they reached the ocean.

“There is so much plastic and other waste, I can’t imagine what animals go through,” filmmaker James Suter, who captured the moment, said. “It was a very tangible reminder of how important it is to educate ourselves, clean up our beaches and work to ensure plastic and things like this are not in our oceans.”
