In an unlikely backyard spectacle, a black bear was caught on video enjoying a relaxing dip in a hot tub in the Verdugo foothills of California, United States. Burbank Police Department shared a video of the unusual incident on Friday.  

The US has been experiencing extreme heat, including California, with temperatures breaking records nationwide.

Upon arrival, officers were amazed to find the bear playing and splashing around in the hot tub of a neighborhood home. The area The authorities kept watch as the bear spent a few hours in the area and eventually wandered off into the Verdugo Mountains area, returning to his natural habitat.

There are between 25,000 to 35,000 black bears in California. They are primarily found in the forested and mountainous regions of California.

Black bears are omnivorous, with a diet of mainly plants (around 85% of their diet). They consume berries, nuts, insects, small mammals, and, when available, human-derived food such as garbage or pet food. The animals are generally shy and typically avoid human interaction. 

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) allows bear hunting to manage the population.
