Horses, cows and other farm animals were rescued in Sydney on Monday after the animals almost drowned in rising floodwaters.
After water levels rose quickly, Australian State Emergency Service personnel boarded rafts, lassoed the animals and pulled them through floodwater to get them to safety.
“They were quite scared,” said the State Emergency Service Ryan Rewi about the animals. “Yeah, it was really difficult with multiple animals in the water.”
“Obviously, we have got to get them out now, so it’s happened. It’s happened overnight, and yeah, we have got to get them out,” farmer Wayne Xuvrev said.
Torrential rains continued on Tuesday, intensifying the floods crisis in Sydney.
