Close to a hundred yellow-headed blackbirds fell from the sky in the state of Chihuahua in northern Mexico, footage from a security camera, released on Sunday, showed.
The video showed the migratory birds falling on houses like black smoke. Most birds were able to fly away again, but the dead bodies of almost a hundred birds were found on the streets. Police said the black and yellow birds were migrating from Northern Canada to Mexico.
Authorities don’t know what caused their death. Local newspaper El Heraldo de Chihuahua reported that the birds died from high levels of air pollution in the region due to the use of wood-burning heaters, agrochemicals, and even low temperatures.
