Young female chimpanzee Purin forced to perform in Japan (INTERVIEW)

The young female chimpanzee Purin is being used for the entertainment industry in Japan. She’s forced to ride bikes, wear glasses and entertain humans.

We’re talking to Rob Laidlaw from the wildlife protection group Zoocheck who wrote a letter to officials in Japan requesting to stop using Purin in entertainment shows.

Purin was born in 2015 at Cuddly Dominion in Japan and at only four days old, she was separated from her mother; an extremely traumatic experience for both mother and baby, just like it would be the case if a human baby was taken away from her mother, Laidlaw tells The Animal Reader.
