Divers free massive whale trapped in fishing net in Italy (video)

Italian divers freed a sperm whale trapped in a tangled fishing net off the coast of Lipari on Friday. Using cutters and knives, the divers sliced through the illegal net and freed the whale.

The whale then swam off apparently unharmed to join three others which were monitored nearby.

Biologists working at a turtle recovery center nearby alerted the coastguard to the trapped whale. The Italian coastguard went to rescue the animal.
